Retinart is a play-pen in which thoughts about graphic design, creativity and beauty dance and
sing, twist and spring-forth.
Thoughts which are wrapped
in layers of love and passion,
waiting to be torn into and enjoyed.

Design without thinking is like a story with no plot.
—Pat Hansen—

Retinart is written by graphic designer and lover of all things clever, from the trivial to the profound, Alex Charchar.
I've been in love with the industry of graphic design for quite a while and couldn't imagine passing my time indulging in anything else. What more could I want other than this world of creative thought and beautiful expressions?
I'm always happy to hear your thoughts and opinions, so please feel free to send me an email or go to the contact page.

Book Review: The Anatomy of Design
Steven Heller • Mirko Ilic
The Anatomy of Design is worth far more than the price on the sticker. Heller and Ilic show that similar ideas can be expressed in different ways repeatedly, making them new again. Part beautiful imagery, part history lesson, much can be learned and a better respect for ideas and how they are expressed differently by each of us can be taken from this wonderful collection of pages.

Paul Rand • Ann Rand
Sparkle & Spin and Little 1 are two books by Paul & Ann Rand that'll have you smiling and smirking. Filled with playful collages and fun characters in a style that is 100% Rand - clever and a little cheeky.

Paul Felton
Paul Felton's The Ten Commandments of Typography/Type Heresy weighs in at a quaint 80-pages and is one of those books that makes you smirk and return to. It's also one of those books you get excited about introducing to your typography-loving friends because of its wit and easy-to-digest size. For those who know about typography, this is one that'll bring some enjoyment through what you agree with, and possibly even more from what you don't.
A million blessings for your custom
